Springfield is located in central Effingham County and is approximately 25 miles northwest of downtown Savannah. Adjoining Effingham County cities include Rincon and Guyton.
In the early days, railroad and sawmill enterprises flourished in the county. Springfield got home to neighborhood trade, diversion, open assistance, places of worship, and several mortgage holders in the coming years.
